Al-Quran: Should It Be Read With Understanding?

The Holy Qur’an is the final revelation of Allah – a proclamation to all of humanity. It is full of wisdom, a warning to the heedless, a solace to the suffering, and a hope to those in despair. In short, The Holy Qur’an is guidance for all of mankind. Now ask yourself a question: is it possible to derive all these blessings and insights from the Qur’an without actually understanding the meaning or implementing its rulings? Yet this is the position of so many Muslims today. Dr. Zakir Naik explains why it is compulsory for mankind to read the Qur’an with understanding.

And We have certainly made the Qur’an easy to understand, so is there anyone who would pay attention?” (The Noble Quran 54:17)

Our beloved Prophet (P.B.U.H) said, “Oh Abu-Dar, it is better that you learn one verse of Qur’an than pray hundred rakaat of Salah”. Ibn e Maaja hadith no. 219
